All Washed-Up

Me and the Miaudonna turned into proper Calgon housewives today. You remember that commercial where the repair guy comes in to fix the washing machine and holds up that slightly rotten heating thingie and tells her to use Calgon so her washing machine will "live longer"?

Yeah, that was who we were this morning. It was kinda bizarre!

The best part came when he held the heating thingy up ... ewwww! The commercial shows beautified rotten business as we would expect TV to do (sorry that's where my extensive reading about mass communication during the last few days is kickin' in ... next exam)... but what he held up was OUTTA CONTROL! See for yourself...

on closer inspection not all of that is the heating thingie ... but all that nasty business, I'm sure, has nothing to do being so close to the heating thing!

So the guy fixed it ... and we are 180 Euros poorer, but that's how it goes. And apparently we can now save money ... the new heating stuff means less energy will be used by the machine.

Oh and there is another thing that will save us money ... I got a proper lecture on washing powder and liquid ... and apparently I'm using way too much, coz the advised amount on the packaging is ridiculously exaggerated! Having said that, I did my first machine right away and used as little as he said... and fresh does smell different. Now that the linen has dried a bit, it's better as it was when I got it out of the machine, but I'm not convinced yet.

AND Calgon is supposedly shit, so he sold us that 20 Euro wonder powder that we have to use every 6 months to clean the machine from calcium carbonate and nasty bacteria and fluff... hmmm... he could have sold me anything I guess! but it sounded convincing... here's to that it isn't some secret stuff that will make the machine rot quicker and make us have to call him again soon!

But how can you say no to a guy who screams professionalism by showing up with a tool box that not just includes EVERYTHING to fix the machine (okay apart from a hammer and a wooden spoon that we had to lend him ... am I just undermining my own argument?) AND enough space for a tiny cute computer and printer with which he logged into his company's network to print our bill and let everyone at the office know: "mission accomplished". He was quick to tell me that a lot of women lost their jobs in the office because he can do everything himself with the computer now ... yeah, that kinda sucks, but then, this is the future and the business woman in me is impressed by its efficiency!

I Just Fell For Elmo

I never watched Sesame Street religiously, so I couldn't really remember this cute little monster!

But when I researched Elmo, Alaska - long story... it's that place in Men In Trees and it is fictional (buhu!) ... I looked it up in one of my "lost on the internet looking up places I sooo wanna travel to once I have a real job" moments - the first results all were for Elmo the monster... and I was like "Oh it's the monster that Becks will meet on Sesame Street kinda soon-ish".

And if I had a kid, I'd totally buy this...

It's just BRILLIANT!

Apparently there is an Elmo doll that you can program to say stuff and somewhere is the States an Elmo doll has started to say "Kill James" to its owner after the Mom changed the batteries... creepy!

Anyway, after getting lost on youtube watching Elmo, I now am totally in love with him ... and can't wait for that Becks thing.
